Evaluation of public policiesSustainable production systems

CLIM-FAS aims to improve knowledge on the agricultural sector’s contribution to and potential for climate change mitigation, and to generate scientific evidence on the economic and legal effectiveness of a range of public actions to encourage and accelerate the implementation of mitigation solutions.

  • Estimate net GHG emissions (sources and sinks) from French agriculture under current and future climate conditions, taking into account pedoclimatic variability, farm heterogeneity, and diversity of farming practices.
  • Provide scientific evidence on the technical, economic, and legal effectiveness of a set of low-carbon practices.
  • Analyze the barriers and drivers of mitigation measure adoption, whether psychological, socio-economic, or legal.
  • Assess the mitigation potential of net emissions (technical and economic) and estimate marginal abatement costs.
  • Conduct a critical assessment of existing economic and policy instruments and propose improvements or alternatives.
